Ryan took out the Luminol, spraying it over the floor.

Greg squinted, then his eyes widened. The Luminol was showing them that a great deal fo blood had been spilled, and then someone had attempted to clean it up.

"They used bleach," Ryan said, wrinkling his nose. "The smell is way too powerful for it to be anything else." He continued to spray the Luminol, sighing. "This was a pretty bloody scene. I guess they thought they could hide it, but Luinol reveals all."

"Too bad for them," Greg commented, shaking his head. "This is just going to make it worse for them in the long run. This looks like it was pretty brutal."

Ryan nodded, frowning in concentration.

The two of them began their work, bagging evidence from the crime scene. Greg was his usual careful, methodical self, getting his job done quickly and efficiently.

He and Ryan had developed a rhythm when they were gathering evidence; they didn't talk much, but they didn't need to. They felt comfortable with each other; they didn't have to postulate theories about the crime. They could do that later, when they were back at the lab.

There would be time enough to bounce theories on the crime back and forth then; while they were here, they had to concentrate on gathering all the evidence they could find.

Finally, Greg got to his feet from where he had been kneeling to bag a few fibers that he'd found on the carpet, fibers that he hoped came from the killer's clothes.

"Ready to go?" he asked Ryan, turning towards his boyfriend with a smile. Ryan was still studying the evidence of blood that the Luminol had shown them, looking at it with a frown marring his forehead. Greg didn't know why he was looking so contemplative, but he would find out later.

Ryan glanced at him, then smiled and nodded. "Yeah, babe. Let's get out of here and go back to the lab. I want to see if we might have any DNA from those fibers."

Greg agreed with him wholeheartedly; he wanted this case solved.

All the blood that they'd found had to mean that there might be more than one body; there seemed to have been far too much of it for it to come from just one person.

And if that was so, then this case was going to be far more complicated than they'd first expected. They had thought that they were looking for one victim; now it seemed that there might be two, and Greg knew that they stood a chance of finding even more before the case was solved.

The two of them headed for the front door, exiting the house and nodding to the cops who were in the front yard as they got into the black CSI van.

He'd be glad to get back to the lab and start processing the evidence.
