Things had been pretty rough for Catherine the last little bit. She had been working overtime a lot which meant seeing Lindsay less and less. Her sister Nancy was always good about keeping her niece, but Catherine still felt bad. After a long week at work, Catherine was looking forward to her date with Chris. Things had been rocky between the two and she was hoping to set things straight.

"Hey there Cath, how are you doing?" Warrick asked as he joined Catherine at the break room table.

"Tired War. I'm supposed to meet Chris tonight."

"How's that going by the way."

"Not well. The last few times we've gone out it has ended in a huge fight. I'm not sure this is going to work out." Catherine sighed.

"Sorry to hear that. Let me know if there's anything I can do." He said as he left the room.

"Thanks Warrick." Catherine called out after him.

Catherine's pager went off and the vibrations almost sent it over the edge of the table.

"Great." Catherine said as she read the page.

"Have to cancel tonight Catherine. This isn't going to work out between us. Take care.-Chris."

"What an asshole." Catherine said aloud. "He doesn't even have the nerve to tell me to my face its over."

Catherine was so upset she didn't see Nick had walked in.

"You doing ok there Cath?" He asked.

"No I'm not Nick." Catherine scowled.

"Sorry to hear that. Anything I can do to help?"

"No."

"No what?" Warrick asked as he came back for the file he forgot.

"Chris just broke it off with Cath." Nick said.

"Ouch. Sorry to hear that." Warrick said as she placed his hand on Catherine's shoulder.

"Well, the good news is its over. I don't have to worry about another explosive argument. The bad news is I desperately needed to go out tonight and relax, but nothing like going out alone." Catherine stated.

"I can help you out there if you like." Warrick offered.

"I don't think I'm up for being set up with a blind date Warrick, no offense."

"None taken, but I think it would be a mistake for you to say no."

"You do, do you? So tell me who you've got in mind." Catherine said.

"Not on your life. You'd never agree to it otherwise."

"That's really encouraging Warrick."

"Let me do this for you Catherine. You need the time out and so does this person. I'm sure you two will find something to talk about. Trust me on this Cath." Warrick said with puppy dog eyes.

"Oh alright. But if it turns out to be the night from hell, I am so going to kill you." She said with a smile.

"Cool. Consider your evening booked. I'll get you the details later. I promise this will be a night you'll never forget." He said grinning from ear to ear.

Chapter 2 The Fix-Up

Catherine was wrapping up a few things on a case she had just solved when her cell went off.

"Willows."

"Hey Cath. Get a pen and paper. Here are the details for your date tonight."

"Ok, go." Catherine said.

"Be at the Delmonico Steakhouse at 8:30. Tell the hostess who you are. She will then take you to a small room. It is a private room with a door for privacy. Your date will arrive at 8:40 so don't be late. Your date will knock on the door and give you the secret code."

"Secret code? What is this mission impossible?" Catherine chuckled.

"Something like that." Warrick said. 'If she only knew.' He thought to himself. "The secret code is farfigneuton."

"Been watching Love Potion # 9 have we?"

"Not for a long time, but it's a word not many people use."

"Ok. Is that it?"

"The rest will be up to you two. Enjoy."

Warrick hung up the phone before Catherine could protest. She looked at her watch and closed the file and headed out the door. 'I wonder what I should wear.' She thought to herself. 'Delmonico's is a very nice place.'

Catherine arrived at home and rummaged through her closet trying to find just the right outfit. She settled on a pair of tight black slacks and a low cut white blouse and black boots. She looked at her watch and discovered she had just enough time to jump in the shower before it was time to get ready to go.

An hour later, Catherine arrived at Delmonico's. Just as Warrick said, the hostess took her to a back room where there were flowers and candles surrounding a small round table. She took her seat and waited.

The flickering of the candle light was hypnotizing, and Catherine found herself lost in it. The shrill ringing of her cell phone ripped her from her daze.

"Willows."

"Are you at the restaurant?" Warrick asked.

"Yes Warrick, I'm sitting here waiting."

"Good. Your date will be there momentarily. Enjoy yourself Cath."

Catherine became very nervous about who would be joining her. She stood and wiped her now sweaty hands on her legs trying to dry them off. Her heart started beating a mile a minute and suddenly her mouth was very dry. She reached over to the table and took a drink of water. No sooner had she put the glass down as there was a knock on the door.
"Who is it?" Catherine stammered.

Chapter 3 The Secret Code

"Farfigneuten."

"Come in." Catherine replied.

The door opened slowly and a face peered inside the room. Nothing had prepared her for the sight before her.

"Sara, what, um, why, um."

"I told Warrick this was a bad idea. I can leave if you like." Sara said looking at the floor.

"Nonsense. We're both here, I'm sure we can enjoy a peaceful evening together." Catherine said unable to take her eyes off of the beauty before her.

"Wow Catherine, you look absolutely amazing." Sara said trying to keep from drooling on herself.

"You look pretty amazing yourself. I don't think I've ever seen you dress up so much before." Catherine said admiring Sara. Sara had also decided on black, but was clad in black leather pants and vest, with black boots. Catherine herself was having a hard time not drooling.

"So, should we sit down?" Sara said as she pulled Catherine's chair back for her. Catherine took her seat as Sara pushed her chair in.

"Thank you Sara." Catherine said.

"You're more than welcome."

The two ordered their meals and chatted about work, neither one sure how to change the conversation. The meal was over and the waitress brought a dessert with two forks.

"We didn't order this." Catherine said.

"Mr. Brown ordered it ahead of time, as well as this bottle of champagne." She said as she pulled the bottle from the bucket of ice. She popped the cork and poured them both a glass and removed the silver top covering the dessert.

"It's our specialty, Grand Marnier Chocolate Lava Cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and Grand Marnier drizzled over the top. You ladies enjoy." The waitress said with a smile before leaving and closing the door behind her.

"Wow. Warrick really went all out didn't he?" Catherine asked.

"Actually, this was all my choice. I just figured if you thought he set it all up you wouldn't back out." Sara said shyly.

"Well thank you Sara. Warrick was right; this will certainly be a night I won't forget."

"I'm glad. But it's no where close to being over yet." Sara hinted.

"Oh? What else do you have planned?"

"That all depends on a few things. Let's enjoy our dessert before it melts." Sara smiled as she cut the cake, taking a small piece and dipping in into the hot molten chocolate inside.

Catherine followed suite. "Mm this is wonderful Sara." A bit of chocolate dribbled onto Catherine's chin, but she didn't seem to notice until she felt Sara's long slender finger rubbing against her face as she wiped the chocolate from her and showed it to her. Sara smiled as she licked the chocolate sauce from her finger.

Catherine's eyes followed every movement. She was transfixed on the sight before her. She had never noticed how beautifully perfect Sara's mouth and hands were or how lusciously dark her chocolaty eyes were.

"I wish we could start tonight all over again." Catherine whispered.

"Why is that?" Sara asked with a quizzical look on her face.

"Because I would have done this." Catherine said as she left her seat and stood before Sara, bending down and placing a gentle kiss on her lips, licking them lightly, removing a bit of chocolate from them.

Chapter 4 The Kiss Hello

"Well, I can go out and come back in if you like." Sara said her voice husky and low.

"I don't think I can wait that long Sara." Catherine said as she pulled Sara from her chair grabbing her face and pulling her lips to her own. The kiss quickly grew more passionate as their tongues dueled for supremacy.

Hands were roaming freely, fingers outlining breasts. Sara pulled away long enough to whisper. "I was hoping things would go this way." She said before resuming her tongue's assault on Catherine's mouth.

Keeping Catherine busy, Sara pulled a key from her pocket and placed in between Catherine's heaving breasts. The coolness from the metal key snapped Catherine from the kiss.

"What's that?" She asked.

"A key to a room, a place we can go and have more privacy to continue this if we wish."

"Oh I wish." Catherine said her voice full of lust and desire.

Two days later, both Catherine and Sara returned to work. Warrick was anxiously awaiting their return to find out how it went. When he saw the look on their faces as they walked in the lab together he knew the plan had worked out well.

"So, how'd it go? Good?" He asked.

"Better than good." Catherine replied.

"Are you going to share any details?"

"Warrick, I don't kiss and tell. If Sara wants to share that's fine with me. I need to thank you by the way."

"For what?" Helping Sara set this whole thing up. She told me it was mostly her idea, but was afraid I'd back out if I didn't think you set it up."

"To be honest with you Catherine, she's been wanting a night like that with you for a very long time. You just haven't been very open to her attempts."

"I know. That has all changed Warrick. You'll see." Catherine said with a beaming smile.

A year had passed and Catherine and Sara's relationship blossomed. Sara moved in with Lindsay and Catherine and they had become their own little family. Sara and Catherine had spent several months talking about expanding their family and had finally decided to take that next step. They had an appointment scheduled for Sara to be artificially inseminated.

Chapter 5 The Pez Dispenser

Catherine and Sara schedule a week off for the event. They wanted it to be as perfect as possible. Ever body was curious as to what was going on with them and the rumors had been flying.

"So Sara, care to share what you two have planned this week?" Warrick had asked.

"Um, we'll share it with you, but not yet." She replied.

"Oh, ok." Warrick said, trying to play his puppy dog eye routine.

"That's not going to work this time War. All in good time." Sara said as she walked into the break room to collect the love of her life.

"You ready Catherine? We're running a bit late." Sara said looking at her watch.

"Ready as I'll ever be." She said with a smile.

"So what's going on you two?" Greg asked as he came in for a cup of coffee.

"Nothing Greg, we're just on our way to see a man about a pez dispenser." Catherine said as she headed out the door. She and Sara burst into laughter as the guys were left more confused as ever before.

They arrived thirty minutes later at Dr. Martin's office. Neither one had been this nervous since the night of their blind date. The nurse took them back to the room where they waited a bit longer for the doctor.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Dr. Martin opened the door and welcomed them.

"It's good to see you again Sara. Are you two certain you're ready to do this and you understand that insemination like this can lead to multiple births correct?"

"Yes, we're aware and prepared for that." Catherine said.

"Alrighty then, let's get started, shall we?" Dr. Martin asked.

Catherine stood beside Sara, holding her hand the entire time. The procedure only took about thirty minutes.

"Ok. You will know in the next two weeks if this was successful. Don't be upset if it doesn't take this time. We may have to try a few more times to be successful." Dr. Martin said with a smile.
"Thanks Dr. Martin." Sara said, shaking his hand.

After he left, Catherine bent down and kissed Sara softly on the brow. "This could be it Sara. This could be the start to a new phase in our lives."

"I'm just glad Lindsay is ok with this whole situation."

"Are you kidding? She's so excited she can hardly stand it."

Sara got dressed and she and Catherine headed home for a quiet week together. Lindsay was away at Girl Scout Camp.

Three weeks later Sara had yet to start her period. She and Catherine were anxious to take a pregnancy test, but knew they should give it a bit more time. Sara was sitting at the break room table eating an apple when her pager went off.

"Meet me in the locker room. I have something for you. –C."

Sara tossed her apple core in the trash and headed to the locker room. Catherine was pacing the floor and appeared to very anxious about something.

"Hey, what's up?" Sara asked.

Catherine pulled a small brown bag from behind her back. "I bought you something." She said as she handed it to Sara.

Sara immediately knew what it was and headed to the bathroom. The next four minutes seemed like an eternity. Catherine stood outside the stall door with her fingers crossed.

"Come on Sara, what's does it say?"

"Just a minute baby." She replied.

A few more moments passed and Catherine finally heard the slide on the lock being moved. The door opened slowly, and Sara appeared before Catherine, her face looking down at the floor.

"Oh baby, it's ok. We'll try again next month ok? Remember, Dr. Martin said it could take a few tries." Catherine said as she pulled Sara close to her.

"Yea, we need to make another appointment with Dr. Martin." Sara said quietly, holding Catherine tight. "But it won't be to try again." Sara said.

"What? Why?" Catherine said pulling away from Sara.

Sara held out the little plastic stick. Catherine could hardly believe it when she saw the two pink lines.

"We're going to have a baby!" Sara shouted.

Tears welled up in Catherine's eyes. She had only been this happy one other time in her life and that was when she found out she was pregnant with Lindsay.

They walked out of the locker room together, hand in hand. Catherine carried the plastic stick. They walked right up to Warrick and handed it to him.

A smile larger than his face appeared. "Congratulations you two." He said giving them both a hug.

Chapter 6 The Baby Shower

Nine months later, a very pregnant Sara was sitting behind her desk in the lab. She was expecting twins and had been on light duty since the fifth month. She was about to go crazy, but knew she needed to stay off of her feet. Each baby was weighing close to five pounds each at their last visit and Sara's mood was taking a turn for the worst.

Her pager interrupted her thoughts. "Sara, meet me in the break room. –Grissom."

"What the hell could he want? And why the hell couldn't he walk his skinny ass down here instead of making me go there?" Sara cursed as she tried to stand and walk. Tired from the exertion, she decided to roll herself down in her chair. She arrived at the break room, but the lights were off and the door was shut.

"This better not be some prank Greg." She said aloud. She opened the door and scooted in and turned on the light.

"Surprise!" Everyone yelled.

Sara nearly fell out of her chair with shock. There were streamers and balloons all over the place. The table was filled to the brim with baby presents.

"We know that you won't be with us much longer Sara, so we wanted to throw you a baby shower." Grissom said as he walked over and placed a kiss on the top of her head.

"Wow, you guys are great!" Sara replied.

Everybody enjoyed the festivities. There weren't the usual baby shower games, Grissom had put his foot down when he heard of the typical baby bottle sucking contest and the identify the baby food game.

About half an hour into the party, Sara cried out in pain.

"Oh, that hurt." She said.

"What's the matter?" Catherine said rushing to her side, placing a hand on Sara's swollen belly.

"Um, I'm not sure. They're kicking a bit more than usual. Ouch." She said.

"Sara, is your stomach getting tight when it hurts? Does it feel hard inside?"

"Huh? Uh, yea." Sara replied.

"How long has this been going on?" Grissom asked.

"Um, about two hours." Sara replied.

"Why didn't you call me Sara?" Catherine asked.

"I just thought they were Braxton-Hicks."

"How far apart are the pains?" Catherine asked, trying to hide the panic that was welling up inside her.

"Um, about five minutes now." Sara replied.

"Ok, you guys know the drill. Grissom, call Dr. Martin and tell him we're on our way. He's already planning on a C-section because the babies are pretty big. Ok Sara honey, let's get you to the hospital."

They arrived in a record three minutes. Brass had an officer run lights and sirens in front of them.

Sara arrived and they immediately took her to the operating room. Catherine put on her scrubs and joined Sara inside.

Sara was prepped and the sterile field drape was in place. The anesthesiologist made quick work of the epidural and prepared Sara for the operation.

"Hey Sara. I'm glad you made it." Dr. Martin said.

"Me too." Sara replied.

"Now don't you worry about a thing honey. We'll have these babies delivered in five minutes, ok? Are you ready?" He asked.

"Yes." Sara said as a lone tear made its way down her cheek.

Catherine wiped it away, brushing her hands through Sara's hair, placing gentle kisses on her brow. "This is it baby. Our angels are on their way."

"Ok Sara. You're going to feel some pressure but you shouldn't feel any pain. Here comes the first one. It's a girl!"

Tears came at a steady pace as they heard their daughter cry for the first time. Catherine kissed Sara once again. "Oh Sara, she's absolutely beautiful." Catherine said as she stole a peak over the curtain.

"And here's the second one. It's a boy!" Dr. Martin yelled. "Congratulations you two."

Catherine brought the two little bundles over for Mama Sara to see. The girl had hair just like her mother's, long and brown and the little boy was bald. Sara kissed each of them on their little faces before the nurse took them to the nursery. "You can see them when you're out of recovery Sara." She had said.

An hour later, Catherine wheeled in their two little bundles of joy.

"They asked for their names in the nursery, but I told them you wanted to announce them." Catherine said as she placed a baby in each of Sara's arms.

"Oh, they're so tiny." Sara said as she began to cry all over again.

"So what's it going to be? What did you decide for the boy?" Catherine asked.

"Jonathan Warrick Willows." Sara replied.

Catherine wasn't sure whose last name they were going to go by, and was very touched that Sara gave the babies her name.

"And our little girl will be Samantha Catherine Willows." Sara said looking deep into the eyes of her lover.

"Oh Sara, those are absolutely beautiful. Thank you for giving me these beautiful babies.' She replied kissing Sara's head.

Chapter 7 The Smelly Car

Sara took six weeks off without coming into the lab. The guys had stopped by the house to see everyone. Sara decided it was time to get out of the house and strapped the babies in their car seats and headed to the lab. She arrived and pulled the carriers from the car and headed inside. She was greeted by everyone who wished her well. She walked into the break room and the guys melted and started baby talking. 'Who'd have thought these men were capable of all this gibberish.' Sara thought to herself.

Mommy Catherine came in and kissed her babies hello and then kissed Sara. "How's my little mommy doing?" She asked.

"Just fine. We were on our way to their check up and thought I'd stop in and say hello."

"I'm glad you did."

Two hours had passed and it was now time for them to head to the doctor. Grissom carried one of the carriers and Warrick the other. Nick opened the door and quickly stepped back.

"Whew, what died in there?" He asked.

"Oh no, I forgot to grab the dirty diaper on my way in." Sara said covering her nose with her hand as the smell reached her nose.

"Oh man that's bad." Grissom said.

Everybody started laughing at his reaction.

Nick opened all the doors to let the van air out before placing the babies back inside.

"Try not to do that again, huh?" He said holding his nose jokingly.

"Sure thing Nicky."

"See you at home baby." Catherine said as she shut the door for Sara.
