Danny winced as he saw his reflection in the bathroom mirror. He was covered in a myriad of bruises and cuts. Flack and he had been chasing a suspect. Why did they always feel the need to run, Danny wondered as one of the deeper cuts made itself known. Danny had been the one to actually tackle the suspect. The instant he was tackled, the other man began fighting back. Neither Flack nor Danny realized he had a knife until he'd already made several cuts on the New Yorker's skin. Flack got the suspect off his friend as fast as he could, but not before he'd done some damage. Danny was just glad to be home and to have Mac there to help care for the wounds.

"Why don't we get you patched up?" came a soft voice as gentle hands guided him to sit on the toilet. Nodding silently, Danny allowed Mac to fuss over him. Normally he wouldn't put up with it, but the older man was worried, and frankly, Danny was too tired to fight him.

"Shit, that hurt," Danny hissed as Mac moved a cotton ball across one of the deepest cuts.

"Sorry, but I have to make sure they're clean," Mac apologized. Gritting his teeth, Danny nodded and closed his eyes.

"All done, how about a bath? It will help ease the aches and pains.

"Mmm hmm," the younger man mumbled. Placing a quick kiss on Danny's lips, the ex-marine moved from his position in front of the injured man and turned the water in the bath tub on and made sure it was at a reasonable temperature before moving back to his lover.

"Take it easy," he cautioned as he helped Danny stand. Slowly they walked over to the bath and Mac slid into the warm water first. Once he was settled he held out his hand for Danny to take. Carefully they got the injured man into the bath.

"Just relax and lean on me," Mac suggested. Wordlessly his lover complied. He was glad that he had Mac to help care for the wounds and ease the pain. It was something he was thankful for every day.

Finished!
