When we came out of the theatre Lindsey and Catherine were staring at me like I was an alien. I don't think they'd ever seen me laugh so much or so loud.

Even remembering it made me burst out giggling again. Our typical post-movie 'which bit did you like best' chat was going to be painful for my poor sides. Predictably, Lindsey's favourite was the kiss at the end. Catherine liked lots, 'La Vida Loca' was one of her favourite songs from after she stopped dancing but was still listening to tracks as a dancer, looking for that beat, so that scene was her favourite. I had loads to choose from. Some, I would share with Catherine later, telling Lindsey about that piano scene in Fabulous Baker Boys and how I lusted after Michelle Pfeiffer wouldn't be too easy, nor would explaining about the Flashdance scene. Finally, I settled on the Ghostbusters rip-off, as something we could talk about together, although the Mission Impossible skit with Pinocchio on strings was hilarious too. That would probably become my favourite child-friendly memory over time.

On the drive home I was the one getting told off for going over the film constantly. It gave Lindsey a great deal of delight to be able to repay some of the teasing I'd given her over the months we'd been doing this. In an odd way it made me more confident that I belonged. The same old lines as Catherine used to mock-chastise her beloved daughter were now being used to mock-chastise me. Catherine must have been feeling confident that I wouldn't take it the wrong way, and I was delighted to be taking it all in good part.

When we got in we packed Lindsey off to bed with a hug and a kiss. I snuck in a quick burst of 'Changes', thinking I should change "Ever Fallen In Love" for Catherine. The pair of us settled comfortably down, arms around each other.

"Sara," Catherine began. "I'm really happy to have seen you like that. Seeing you smile and laugh, it's good for my soul. Seeing you happy about being teased as part of the family, that was wonderful. I love you regardless, but happy Sara is great to see."

"I love you too." I murmured. "It's taken a while for me to be comfortable showing my emotion, but you do make me happy. Always."
