Greg paced back and forth nervously, checking his watch.

He had gotten to the airport early, just in case Nick's flight got here before it was supposed to. He just hoped that he and Steve didn't get called to a case.

His boyfriend had come with him, refusing to let him handle seeing Nick alone. Greg couldn't tell if Steve was worried or not, but he didn't think so. Steve knew that he had no romantic interest in Nick any more; his lover was just here with him to offer him some moral support.

And also, more than likely, to show Nick that the two of them had a solid partnership that wasn't going to be broken for any reason, he thought with a wry smile.

He didn't think Nick would try anything. He hoped not.

Still, he was glad that Steve was here with him; it was better to be safe than sorry, and he wanted the three of them to get off on the right foot.

He didn't want Steve to feel threatened by Nick, and he wanted Nick to see that he was secure and happy in his new relationship. It was what he felt that he had to do for Nick to have the same kind of closure he did, and he felt that Nick probably needed it as well.

Something within him couldn't help thinking that was why Nick was coming here -- not to try to get him back, but to make sure that he was all right.

Greg knew that Nick didn't like change. He didn't either. Learning to let go hadn't been easy for him, but he'd found Steve to help him with those emotions.

He sincerely wanted Nick to find the same kind of happiness that he had. He wanted his former lover to find someone he could love the way that he himself loved Steve; he wanted Nick to be happy and to have a secure relationship. He deserved that; he was a good man.

He just hadn't been the right man for Greg, and even though they'd both tried to deny that, Greg had realized long ago that they didn't belong together.

He just hoped that Nick could realize that.

He'd made some big changes in his life, and they had all turned out to be good ones. He was happy, more so than he'd ever been during the time he'd spent in Las Vegas.

Change could be good or bad, Greg reflected as he looked at his watch again. He'd just been lucky in that the changes he had made in his life had all been positive ones, and that they'd led him to exactly where he belonged -- and where he wanted to be.

Had it really only been five minutes since the last time he looked at his watch? He sighed, leaning his head back and closing his eyes, trying to relax.

Hopefully, any other changes would also turn out to be for the best.
