Clawing her way back to consciousness Sara was disoriented. Everything was wrong, the sun was at the wrong angle, the bed was the wrong shape, and she couldn't move her left arm or either of her legs.

Trying to look around hurt too, but eventually enough images penetrated to make her realise she was in hospital, in a bed. She couldn't remember why or how she'd ended up there, but at least someone would be able to tell her.

Struggling a little she managed to use her working arm to push herself up a little in the bed, worried about what she would see.

The first thing she could get her head high enough to see was her left arm. She could see there was a needle and tube going in and the arm was gently tied to the edge of the bed, presumably to stop her moving it and dislodging the needle, other than that it seemed fine. That made some sort of sense, but what was wrong with her legs; why couldn't she move them?

Looking down a little further she caught sight of a golden spray of hair across her lap. Behind that hair was a body, Catherine's body, sprawled forward from the hospital chair across her legs, pinning her down. Alerted by Sara's movements Catherine started to wake. Sitting up, she leaned back to stretch. The movement brought her head into the beam of sunlight falling through the windows before she could smooth her hair. It was spread all around her head and each strand flared in the bright light, making Catherine look like she had a halo about her head.

The sight made Sara grin, and wish she had her camera. She'd told Catherine many times since they'd started dating that she thought the older woman was an angel, but looking like this, who could doubt it?
