Nick was enjoying his night off. He'd been to see Gil that day and was pleased to note that there had been slight improvement. That meant a lot because the doctors didn't expect Gil to recover at all. Gil has suffered a massive stroke nearly a year ago, and had 2 milder strokes shortly after. Those had been very dark days. Darker still was the fact that Nick had to place Gil in a nursing facility so he could receive around-the-clock care. There was no way that Nick could care for Gil and work full-time. Nick hated doing it, but knew it was necessary.

While sitting in Gil's favorite chair, Nick thought back through the years about things they'd done. Like the time Nick got Gil to go sky-diving for the first time. Nick knew Gil was terrified, but admired the fact that Gil was willing to try. Then there was the time they had gone to Italy on vacation. Gil had taken pride in being able to share one of his favorite places with his love. They'd made lots of other memories in other exotic locations. Thinking about that made Nick smile.

Nick's thoughts turned to when he and Gil had finally stopped hinting around each other and decided to give being together a shot. To Nick's mind, it was the best decision he'd ever made. There were a few bumps in the road, but they'd managed to work things out every time. His thoughts turned to Gil in the bedroom. The man was a force to be reckoned with! No matter what, Gil always made Nick feel special when they made love. Nick felt wanted, needed, and complete.

Nick thought about many other things that had taken place over the years. Like compromising with Gil over the music, the television programs, and so many other things. Thinking about all these things began to make Nick sad because he had no idea if he would ever have the chance to make any more memories with Gil. He did know that he wasn't giving up on Gil. He hoped that they would be able to make a lot more memories someday.
