Steve wished that Greg wouldn't be so worried about that letter from his ex-boyfriend in Las Vegas. It was, after all, only a letter. Maybe the guy was just bluffing.
Still, Greg didn't seem to think so.
This Nick might not even show up here. Maybe he was only trying to rattle Greg's cage -- but if that was so, he'd done a very good job of it so far.
Steve hated the fact that Greg was so on edge about this. And he hated the feeling that Greg didn't trust him not to be jealous and to start something with Nick if the other man tried to horn in on what Steve now considered his territory. Greg shouldn't think he would be like that.
Of course, he wasn't going to let another man shamelessly flirt with his boyfriend and not step in. But he wouldn't do it in a rude way. He wouldn't make a scene.
No, he would just call Nick out privately.
Steve didn't doubt that if it came down to a fight between them over Greg, he would win. He didn't care how big and tough this Nick guy was; nobody was going to fight him over Greg and come out the winner. He was going to be the one to walk away with the man he loved.
If Nick couldn't accept the fact that Greg was now with someone else, someone he loved, that he had put the past behind him, then he'd have to be convinced of that.
He just didn't want Greg to be torn up over this. He hated seeing how nervous and jumpy his boyfriend was; Greg didn't deserve to have to deal with this kind of stress.
Tonight, when they went home, he'd offer to give Greg a back massage, and then they could talk about it. They'd be able to work everything out between them, Greg could relax, and he himselc could feel that there was nothing more to worry about, at least until Nick was here.
That would open up a whole new can of worms.
Steve wasn't sure how he would deal with seeing Greg's ex and knowing that Nick more than likely wanted him back. It wouldn't be a good feeling.
But, he reminded himself, Greg had chosen to be here with him. Greg was worried about his reaction to all of this, not Nick's. Greg had made his choice, and had chosen him. So he really had no reason to worry, or even any reason to be jealous.
The past was over and done with. Greg had told him that, many times over. It didn't matter that Nick wanted Greg back; he wasn't going to get what he wanted.
Steve just wished that letter had never come to disrupt their lives.
He sighed softly, shaking his head and pushing the thoughts out of his mind. They would just deal with the situation as they went along, and hope that Nick left Hawaii quietly and quickly.***
