"What 'cha reading, babe?" Ryan asked as he sat down on the couch next to Greg. It was unusual to see his boyfriend so engrossed in a book, but when Greg found an author that he really liked, he seemed to spend most of his free time reading.

He didn't mind that at all, Ryan thought fondly. He himself liked to read; he always had a book on the table by the bed, in case he awakened before Greg did and he didn't want to bother his boyfriend while he slept. He liked the comfortable feeling of being able to read in bed.

As long as it didn't interfere with their sex life, he enjoyed it, he corrected himself.

Reading in bed hadn't given their sex life any problems at this point, he thought with an inward smile. He and Greg would both rather make love than read; even when they both had books sitting on the bedside table, being with each other always came first.

"It's an Anne Perry mystery," Greg told him, looking up from his book as though he was surprised to see his boyfriend sitting next to him. "Set in Victorian England."

"That sounds pretty interesting," Ryan murmured with a smile. "When you're finished with it, I'd like to read it, if you don't mind. I like mysteries." That was definitely true; he was currently working his way through all of the Sherlock Holmes novels and short stories.

Greg nodded, smiling as he closed the book. "I think I've had enough reading for a while," he said softly, his tone lowering to a seductive purr. "Who wants to read about a mystery in a book when I could be discovering the answers to the mystery of love?"

"You're right about that," Ryan told him with a laugh, watching as Greg set the book aside on the coffee table and then turned to Ryan, holding out his arms.

It only took him a few seconds to pull Greg into his embrace and settle back against the couch cushions; it always surprised him a little just how well Greg seemed to fit next to him. It was as though the other man's body had been made to snuggle into Ryan's arms.

Maybe he had, Ryan told himself. Just more proof that they were meant to be together.

He settled back against the cushions with a satisfied sigh, tightening his arms around Greg. There was no better feeling in the world than holding his boyfriend in his arms, spending time alone with him, knowing that he loved and was loved in return.

There was no way he could get that feeling from a book, Ryan told himself, bowing his head so their lips met when Greg raised his face for a kiss. Within seconds, the two of them were caught up in their own world, everything around them forgotten as they lost themselves in each other.
