Another New Year another year with no one to kiss at midnight, the joys. Sara stood alone leaning against the wall in Catherine's kitchen sipping her scotch. The house was full; most of the people strangers to Sara which always made her feel uncomfortable. Sara could hear the ever-young Dick Clark blaring from the living room TV and wondered idly how close to midnight it was though she didn't bother to look at her wristwatch. Just then Catherine came breezing into the kitchen.

"Sara! Just the person I've been looking for." Catherine said smiling. Sara couldn't help but smile back, and wondered if anyone could resist the charms of Catherine Willows.

"It's almost twelve o'clock." Catherine stated.

"And?" Sara asked taking the last gulp of her drink.

"Come on Sara you can't hide in the kitchen all night." Catherine said grabbing Sara and dragging her out into the droves of partygoers. Apparently Catherine had found Sara just in time for the countdown. Sara watched everyone pair up as the whole room began chanting along with the descending numbers. Sara could see Gil standing with some woman and it looked like he'd rather be elsewhere, most likely right where Sara herself was, beside Catherine. Then everyone was screaming "ONE!" Sara turned to Catherine as she was going to try to escape the situation but instead of speaking she found her lips being occupied by something much more pleasurable, Catherine's lips. Before Sara's brain kicked in she found herself pulling the small blond into a tight embrace and deepening the kiss. She heard a groan among the background noise of the party and she didn't know who it had emitted from, her or Catherine, but at that point she didn't really care. Sara figuring that this would most likely be her only opportunity to kiss Catherine licked the top of her mouth and nibbled at her bottom lip before pulling away fully. Sara looked down at Catherine's face, her eyes were closed and her glistening lips were slightly open. Both women tried to regain their breath as Catherine's blue eyes fluttered open to stare into Sara's brown ones. Even though the whole room was still partying around them it felt to Sara as if they were the only people in the room. Sara quirked a nervous smile and said,

"Happy New Year."

Catherine grinned mischievously and replied, "Happy New Year indeed."
