As I lay here full of 'flu and not really awake the first thing I notice is the pattern of light moving across the ceiling as the curtain flaps in the gentle evening breeze. For the first time in days the light doesn't feel like someone is driving a dart into my eyes and twisting, I must be getting better. At last, thank God.

I become aware of noise outside, it is you and Lindsey laughing together. A stab of joy and relief runs through me. I wasn't sure how Lindsey would take to you, something that I have told you now I know she loves you as much as I do, and you took in good part too, even though it first came out with a Freudian slip rather than as a planned talk. I guess my unconscious did know what it was doing.

The laughter dies away, and I can hear your footsteps coming along the hall. You open the door, and peek inside, I smile at you, and you come in with a grin on your face. I must be feeling better, you've obviously been painting with Linds, and whilst the paint on your clothes will wash off, the blob on the end of your nose makes me realise once again just how beautiful they really are.
