Writer's Note: I don't own any of the characters, they belong to CSI:NY and its team. :( This is the last story of a Coming Out to friends series for CSI:NY. You can read the first four stories: Shooting Hoops, After the Game, Mac's Turn To Tell... and Stella's Theory. It was almost a week since Danny told Don about Mac. Danny and Don have not talked not since that day, Don tried where possible to avoid Danny when at the labs, but at crime scenes, they had to work together. However, there were some tension between them, and the rest of the team noticed, and expressed some concerns to both Mac and Stella.
Not that Danny have tried, he tried to get Don alone so that they both could have a chat, but Don went out of his way to avoid Danny, especially when Danny approached him. Soon, Danny gave up, and left Don alone. Mac has tried so many times to get Danny to chat to Don, and they ended up having arguments, which was not good.
Finally, Mac and Stella have had enough, and decided to hatch a plan for Danny and Don to get together and work it out. It was agreed that Mac would tell Danny that Don wanted to see him on the roof, where they usually played games of basketball. Danny was pleased to hear it, and agreed willingly. However, it was a different story when Stella talked to Don.
"Look, Don, Danny just wants to talk!" Stella said. Don looked at Stella, "No way, I am not going to talk to him!"
Stella rubbed her hands together, trying to calm down, "Don, don't you want Danny to be happy?" "Yeah, of course!" Don replied. "Then, why don't you talk to Danny? Tell him why you reacted like you did, when you found out about Mac. Maybe Danny can explain more; maybe he is happy with Mac!" Stella explained to Don.Don raised an eyebrow at the mention of Mac, "So you know about them?" Stella nodded, "But...okay..I will talk to Danny! I suppose I need to give him a chance to explain."
Stella relaxed, finally the plan was working. She told Don that Danny would meet him at the roof, and then when Don left, Stella took her mobile out, and phoned Mac to let him know that it was done.
On the roof, Danny was waiting on one of the benches on the basketball court, when he heard Don call out for him. He stands up and walks to where Don was.
Don put his hands on the hips, and looked at Danny, "OK, here I am, you wanted to talk..so talk!"
Danny looked confused, "Huh? But Mac said you wanted to talk?" Don shakes his head, "Looks like we are being set up!" Then they stand there, staring at each other, unsure how to proceed, and so there was an awkward silence filled the void between them.
Finally, Danny spoke up, "Ok if you don't want to talk, that's fine!" then he walks towards the open door, when suddenly it was slammed shut. "Huh?" Danny jumped, and ran over to the door, only to find it locked. He banged on the door, Don running up to Danny, "What?"
"The door is locked, Don!" Danny replied, and they both banged on the door. Behind the door, Mac and Stella were laughing, "Danny, Don, you both need to talk!" Mac shouted through the door, "We are not opening the door, till you both sort it out!"
"Mac?" Danny enquired, puzzled, but no response came, "Mac? Let us out!" Danny shouted. Silence.
Finally Danny gave up, and turned to Don, "Well it looks like we are stuck for now." Don shrugged, and walked over to the court. Danny followed, "So perhaps we should talk?" Danny gestured to Don.
Don looked at Danny, and shrugged, "I suppose so." They both sit on one of the benches.
"So, erm..do you want to start?" Danny asked, Don shakes his head, and gestures for Danny to start. "OK, fine. Don, why did you react like that? I thought you would be fine? I don't understand!" Danny told Don.
Don stayed quiet for a while, and then suddenly he got up and turned to Danny, "I would have been fine about your being bisexual...." Don was saying, when Danny tried to interrupt, but Don put a hand up, "..but Mac? I mean, Mac is only using you, you should know that! Mac is not...not into guys!"
Danny smiled, "Don, Mac is not using me." Don made a face, "Duh! How do you know that?! Come on, Danny!"
Danny stands up, "Mac and I are living together, that's how I know! Mac loves me and I love him!"
Don's hands were flying all over, when he heard that Danny lived with Mac, and paled, "You mean..you and Mac living together? You both?"Danny nodded, slightly, when Don realized something, "Wait, did you just say that you loved Mac?" Danny grinned, "Yeah I did."
"Oh." Don said, and then he sat down again, trying to take all what Danny said in. Then he looked up and smiled, "It looks like I got Mac all wrong. If you are happy, then I am happy for you, that's all I wanted."
"Oh, Don! That is good to hear, man!" Danny said, kneeling down in front of Don, and put a hand on Don's shoulder. They looked at each other, and then grinned, as they hugged.
When Don let go of Danny, Danny got up, "Want a drink down Sullivan's?" he asked, "Yeah, why not?" Don answered, "But how do we get out of here?" Danny walks over to the door, to find it open, "Hey! Looks like it is open, let's go!"
Meanwhile at Sullivan’s, Mac and Stella were sitting in a booth, chatting and drinking. "Do you think they will be okay?" Stella asked. Mac chuckled, "I am sure they will be fine!"Stella nodded, and then they saw Don and Danny come in, and waved them over.
Danny stared at Mac, like he was angry with him, as Don awkwardly slipped in next to Stella. Mac was oblivious to Danny's stare, or he did notice but pretended to not notice, "So you both got it sorted out, I hope?"
Don nodded, "Mac, I must apologize, I thought..I mean...well I am sorry" Mac put a hand up, "It's okay, I understand. You were only looking out for Danny." Danny grinned as he listened to the conversation between Don and Mac, then he sat down next to Mac.
"Well, that's great!" Stella said. Don laughed, "Yeah, but I will get you and Mac back for locking us out!" "Hey, at least it worked!" Stella exclaimed. Don nodded slowly, "I suppose, yeah."
"So, it's serious between you both?" Don asked, gesturing to Mac, who replied, "I certainly hope so, we have been together almost a year!"
"A year?" both Don and Stella almost shouted, "But..but I thought you both were together only...." Stella shakes her head. Mac tilted his head towards Stella, "How long did you think we were together for?"
"Well, I had suspicions for a while," Stella explains, "...for about 4 months now. I noticed a change in how you both interact, how you talk. I don't know, it's hard to explain. But a year?"
Danny nodded, "Yeah, a year together now." Mac was not really listening, as he realized something, to why Stella thought they have been together 4 months, and grinned, as he slipped a hand under the table and squeezed Danny's knee. It was almost 4 months to the day that their relationship changed, to include a Dom/sub relationship.
Don listened, and kept quiet as they talked about Mac and Danny's relationship. He didn't know how he is really feeling about the relationship between Mac and Danny.
