Just one more night, Mike told himself. Only one more night before he would be able to put his plan in action -- and then he could be free of his past forever. It would all come out into the open, the truth would be told at last, and he could have a future with Greg.

That was if Greg still wanted a future with him, after everything that he'd done in the past had finally come out into the open.

Mike sighed softly, closing his eyes and leaning back in his chair. He would have to take that chance. He'd have to trust that Greg would understand why he had done these things, and that the love they shared was strong enough to overcome all odds.

If it wasn't, then he had only himself to blame for all that he'd done.

He could only hope that Greg wouldn't turn away from him, and that he would indeed have a future with his boyfriend. He didn't want to give up that future that he could see in front of them; he prayed that Greg would understand why he'd done all that he had.

Greg wasn't the kind of person to judge him, Mike told himself firmly. He would understand that need for revenge, why he'd been so drive by it. Greg wasn't going to leave him because of the past; he would rather look to their shared future.

Mike sighed softly, wishing that he was the kind of person who believed in prayer. He might need more than a few of those to get him through the ordeal ahead of him -- and he might need to say a lot of them for himself, since he knew that no one else would.

Taking a deep breath, he opened his eyes and looked around him. There was no use in saying a prayer, or thinking that anything could help him. He had to help himself; he'd known that for a long time, even before he'd started down this road.

He would help himself, and he would leave the past behind him.

The future would have to take care of itself. Right now, he had no idea how it would end up -- it would be a coin toss, one that he could only hope that he would win. If he didn't .... well, then he would probably have a long time behind bars to contemplate all that he'd done wrong.

All the prayer in the world wouldn't help him if the courts decided to send him to jail for taking revenge on the person who'd wronged him. He knew that.

Closing his eyes, Mike clasped his hands in front of him. It had been a long time since he'd prayed, but he would do it now -- even though he didn't really think it would help. Still, he needed all the aid he could get -- and if saying a prayer would send that aid, then so much the better.
