Nick figured the wedding was probably over by now. He would have given almost anything to see the look on Greg's face when the note he had written Greg had been hand-delivered right before the wedding. Nick knew it was a shitty thing to do, but Greg deserved it. Just the thought of how Greg had made Nick feel made Nick's heart ache all over again.

It had started off with casual flirting. A touch here, an "accidental" brush up against one another there, conversations filled with all sorts of innuendos. Then Greg really turned on the charm and started making Nick feel so special until he had Nick eating out of the palm of his hand. This went on for a while, and then it happened. Greg managed to seduce Nick.

Things were great for nearly a month. Nick and Greg spent all their time together, mostly in bed. Then, Greg stopped inviting Nick over as much, and when they were at work, Greg was nothing but professional. Nick was confused at Greg's behavior until one night in the break room, Catherine asked Greg when Carrie was getting back in town. Greg glanced at Nick and told Catherine that Carrie would be back in a few days.

Sara asked if the plans for the wedding had been finalized. Greg confirmed that they had been, and went on to say that the reservations for the honeymoon were confirmed as well. About that time, Grissom came in with assignments and Greg scurried off to his lab. Nick went out to his crime scene with Catherine, and when they were finished, Catherine asked Nick to drop their evidence off with Greg.

Nick really didn't want to have to see or talk to Greg, but knew that it was inevitable. Nick caught a break when he got to Greg's lab because Grissom was in the lab with Greg. Nick just dropped everything off in Greg's in box and took off. When Nick got home from the lab that morning, he found a note taped to his front door. It was from Greg asking him to please call so he could explain. Nick tore up the note and threw it in the trash.

The next few days were rather tense for the two men at the lab. Greg was trying to find ways to get Nick alone to talk to him, and Nick just as adeptly avoiding Greg. One night, Greg heard his name on the intercom. He went up front and found his fiancé, Carrie, waiting for him. He got a visitor's pass from the receptionist and took her back to meet some of his co-workers.

Greg found most of the team in the break room discussing cases and introduced them to Carrie. Greg was hoping against hope that Nick didn't make an appearance before Carrie left because he didn't want a big blow-up in front of everybody. Greg didn't have to worry, though. Nick saw the two of them head into the break room and decided not to go in.

Nick found out when the date for Greg's wedding was and decided to write Greg a note. He went through several drafts and finally pulled something together that he liked. He paid the messenger guy an extra $50.00 to make sure it was delivered to no one but Greg. He just wished he were there when Greg opened it.

After the wedding was over, everyone was at the reception. The messenger found Greg and handed him the note. Greg went out into the lobby for a bit of privacy to read it.....

Greg,

Just to be clear, this is NOT a note of congratulations. I just wanted to tell you what a bastard I think you are. All you did was use me for fun until your fiancé got back from wherever it was she went. That was pretty low. I was starting to have some serious feelings for you!

She's got what I wanted. You! To lean on, to love, and to build a life with. I wish I could get that off of my mind, but I don't quite know how. But then again, how I feel doesn't matter anymore because she's the one loving you now. I hope you can live with yourself knowing that you hurt me like you did.

Nick
