How was it that the moonlight could look so different here in Paris?

The moon in Vegas had never looked this full and silvery. Somehow, here in this city, in this beautiful, magical place, everything seemed fresh and new.

Colors seemed brighter, food tasted better. The sights and sounds of Paris filled Greg's senses; he couldn't seem to see enough, and no matter where he looked, there was always more to see. They'd only been here for three days, and he was immersed in the city.

He never wanted to leave. There were times when he wished that he and Ryan could move here, spend the rest of their lives in this wonderful place.

But, of course, that wasn't going to happen.

They had a home in Las Vegas, jobs that they loved, people who cared about them. Neither of them really wanted to give up that home, those friends.

And their responsibilities there were important to them. If they could move to Paris, it would be like a dream come true -- but they'd eventually miss all that they had in the city where they had met and where they had built their relationship, and their future.

But still, he thought with a sigh as he stood on the balcony of their hotel room and looked out at all of the twinkling lights of Paris, living here was a lovely dream to have.

Maybe they would one day, he told himself with a smile. Maybe when they retired from the crime lab, they would move here and live out the rest of their lives in this dream city.

And maybe they wouldn't. Who knew how the future would go for them? But Greg knew one thing -- he and Ryan would always be together, no matter what might happen in their future. He couldn't imagine a life for himself without Ryan by his side.

"What are you doing, baby?" Ryan asked, stepping out onto the balcony, fresh from the shower. "Looking at the moon? Wishing on a star?"

Greg turned to smile at him, holding out a hand to his boyfriend.

"Just looking at Paris by the light of the silvery moon," he said softly, turning once again to look out over the lights of the city. "But it's a lot better now that you're here."

Ryan's arms slid around his waist from behind, pulling Greg back against his body. Greg closed his eyes, letting himself relax as he leaned back into Ryan's embrace. He couldn't think of anything more romantic than being here, in this place, at this moment.

And they still had more than a week to enjoy Paris, both by day and by the light of the moon at night. It was a lover's paradise, a dream come true.

It was a dream that Greg didn't want to wake up from.
