Greg took a deep breath, closing his eyes for a moment as he adjusted his coat. This was the biggest day of his life, the day that he had been waiting for ever since he'd met Ryan. All the time they'd spent together had come down to this, the moment they'd both wanted for so long.

Their wedding day. The happiest day of his life. The day he had dreamed of ever since he'd met Ryan; the day that he was going to remember for the rest of his life, look back on with more happiness than he'd ever dreamed he was capable of feeling.

How had they gotten to this point? He wasn't quite sure, but that didn't matter, as long as they were here. He was marrying the man he loved more than life itself, and nothing else mattered to him. As long as he was with Ryan, and they were becoming one, all was right with his world.

His boyfriend was already standing at the altar, looking unbelievably handsome in his tuxedo. Greg could feel his heart turning over in his chest at the sight of the man he loved; within moments, he would be at that altar, standing beside Ryan, exchanging their vows.

This was what he wanted, more than he'd ever wanted anything in his life. To join his life with Ryan's in front of all their friends and family, to take his boyfriend's name as his own, to be known as Ryan's husband for the rest of their lives together.

His hands were shaking; why was he so nervous? Because this was his wedding day, a little voice piped up in the back of his mind. Everyone was nervous on their wedding day; it was just a fact of life. Something would be wrong with him if he wasn't nervous.

At a nod from Grissom, who was acting as his best man, Greg started down the aisle, keeping his gaze focused on Ryan's face. He was going to his lover, the man he loved more than anything in the world. He was walking down the aisle towards Ryan, to marry him.

He had never felt such love in his heart as he did at this moment; he felt as though his heart was going to burst out of his chest and fly down the aisle ahead of him, right into Ryan's hands. He was radiating love, feeling it through all of his body. It was shining out of him in waves ....

Greg's eyes opened slowly, taking in the room around him, blinking with surprise. He wasn't in a beautiful church decorated with flowers; there was no aisle, no crowd of people with smiles on their faces, no altar. He was at home, lying in bed beside Ryan, waking from a dream.

That had been one of the most intense dreams he'd ever had, he thought, taking a deep breath and letting it out again slowly. He could swear that he was still there, in that church, walking down the aisle with his gaze fixed on Ryan's face. It had seemed so real.

Maybe it had simply seemed real because he wanted it to happen so badly and because he was so much in love, Greg reflected. He wanted to be married to Ryan. He wanted them to make their relationship legal, wanted to take this man's name and give Ryan his own.

Before he'd met Ryan, he had never thought that he would want to get married. Marriage had always been something that was for other people, those who wanted to have kids and raise a family. That had never been one of his priorities; kids weren't his thing and never would be.

Ryan wanted to get marred just as much as he did; Greg knew that. But it still felt as though he had to keep that desire hidden; it wasn't something that he wanted to talk about too much with Ryan, because he knew that it was an impossible dream, at least for the time being.

They couldn't get married, or even let anyone know how deeply in love they were, until that stupid rule about CSIs who worked on the same shift dating was lifted. If only Ecklie would see how ridiculous that rule was, and get rid of it! But Greg didn't see that happening any time soon.

How he envied Ryan and his colleagues in Miami the chances they'd had to date whoever they'd wanted to! But he did have to agree with Ryan about that causing problems at times, especially after he'd heard about the two colleagues of his lover's who had been involved.

They had ended up thinking about nothing but each other, putting the rest of the team's safety, and even their lives, at risk more than once. And because Ryan had always been the odd man out on the Miami team, he had invariably been the one in the most danger.

Greg shuddered at the thought of anyone putting Ryan's life at risk; he was glad that his boyfriend had left Miami, that he'd come here to Vegas and they'd found each other. If Ryan hadn't had the courage to pick up stakes and leave his old life behind, neither of them would ever have found true love.

Ever? Greg had to smile at that thought; he was sure that somehow, the two of them would have managed to find each other, even if Ryan hadn't moved to Vegas when he had. Their feelings for each other were too strong for them not to have come together at some point.

Fate had brought them together, and now that he'd found the love of his life, he was going to hold onto Ryan with everything he had. He loved this man, loved him to the depth and breadth of his heart and soul, and nothing would ever tear him away from his love.

He'd been meant to be with Ryan from the moment of his birth. Even though he was a bit older, he was certain that he'd been intended for this man ever since he was conceived; fate had tied their destinies with each other in a way that neither of them could deny.

Would it have been possible for him to feel such love for someone else if he and Ryan had never met? Greg didn't think so; this kind of love was meant to be directed at one person, and he couldn't being so much in love with anyone other than Ryan.

The thought of never having Ryan in his life was enough to chill Greg to the bone; he pushed that one away as quickly as it appeared, suppressing a shudder and curling up closer to his sleeping boyfriend. He didn't want to imagine Ryan not being here; that didn't bear thinking about.

Greg rolled over and slid his arms around Ryan, pulling his boyfriend closer against him. Even in his sleep, Ryan responded, snuggling closer against Greg, his head pillowed on his lover's shoulder. The gesture made Greg smile, his heart lifting as he did so.

They were meant to be together. The love they shared couldn't be torn apart by anything, not for any reason. He and Ryan had always been destined to be in love; he might not have believed that when they first met, but he certainly believed in it wholeheartedly now.

One day, he and Ryan would get married, Greg told himself firmly. It might not be any time in the near future, but it would happen. They would join with each other in front of their friends and family, proclaim their love for each other to the world.

With that thought in mind, he snuggled more closely to his boyfriend, his arms tightening around Ryan's waist. As though his lover could feel the closeness of his embrace, Ryan's body seemed to melt into his, settling comfortably against him even as Ryan slept on.

This was how love was supposed to feel, Greg told himself, heaving a sigh of contentment. This was what he'd always been looking for, and had thought that he would never find with anyone -- not until the day that Ryan Wolfe had first walked into his life and stolen his heart away.

Their love was never going to fade; it would only grow stronger with each and every passing day. Greg couldn't hold back another smile at the thought as he drifted off to sleep with his arms around Ryan, feeling more contented and more in love than he had ever dreamed possible.
