This was his paradise. It always would be.

Ryan heaved a sigh of contentment as he lay in bed with Greg beside him, his arms around his boyfriend. He could never be as happy anywhere else as he was here, he told himself with a smile. This was where he had always been meant to be.

He and Greg were perfectly suited to each other; they fit like hand in glove. Ryan's only regret was that it had taken them so long to find each other.

In a perfect world, he would have met Greg when he was younger -- much younger, probably when he was in college. They would have fallen in love immediately then, just as they had when they'd met here in Las Vegas. They would have been inseparable, just as they were now.

Ah, but life didn't always work out the way people thought it should.

He should just consider himself lucky that they had met, and that he was with Greg now, rather than having regrets about the time when they hadn't known each other. Maybe they wouldn't have loved like this then. After all, they had been different people in those years.

If they had met then, they might have a torrid affair, and then decided to end it. They might not even have been attracted to each other back then -- though Ryan couldn't imagine a time in his life when he wouldn't have wanted Greg, and wanted to spend a lifetime with hm.

A life without Greg didn't even bear thinking about.

Ryan almost shuddered at that thought, pushing it far away from him. A life without Greg would be an empty life for him, a life without the love that he'd been so lucky to find. Even if he had never known Greg, he would have always felt that there was something missing from his life.

He didn't have to worry about that, he told himself firmly. He had found his paradise, and he intended to have Greg in his arms -- and in his heart -- for the rest of their lives.

Greg's even, slow breathing told him that his boyfriend was already asleep in his arms; Ryan closed his eyes, knowing that he would soon follow. He couldn't think of anything more peaceful than this, falling asleep with Greg in his arms, knowing that he would wake next to his lover in the morning.
