Ryan smiled to himself as he ran the vacuum over the carpet in the living room of his apartment, glancing up at the clock on the wall to see how long Greg had been gone. His boyfriend was at the grocery store, but he should be back before too much longer.

He'd wanted to go out with Greg; they always had fun getting groceries together. It was something that he'd never really enjoyed doing when he lived alone, but with his boyfriend, doing the weekly grocery shopping was an adventure, something to look forward to.

Since Greg had come into his life, every day was something of an adventure. He woke up in the morning with Greg beside him, the warmth of the other man's body shared with his own, making him feel as though all was right with the world. And that feeling stayed with him all day.

What was it about being involved with someone you loved that could make every day feel as though it was filled with promise? Ryan had never experienced that feeling before, even when he'd been in a relationship. He had never met anyone who could make him feel the way -- until Greg.

Finding the right person and loving them unconditionally made all the difference, he told himself with another soft smile. He had never really believed in true love, even though he'd spent a lot of time looking for it when he lived in Miami. But now, he had definitely found it.

Together, he and Greg were an unstoppable team. They might not always agree on everything, but they were always together, always standing strong. He couldn't imagine his life without Greg in it; without Greg, he wouldn't have much of a life at all.

He refused to think of a life without Greg. That would only be an existence, not a life; Greg was the sun that he revolved around, and if that sun suddenly disappeared from his life, he'd be plunged into a darkness that he knew he would never be able to find his way out of.

But that wasn't going to happen, Ryan told himself firmly. He and Greg were always going to be together; they had a strong, committed relationship, one that wasn't going to be torn down for any reason. Every day they grew stronger, every day they loved each other more.

With Greg in his life, he could achieve anything that he set his mind to. If he wanted to leave the crime lab, to take on another job, to start down a new avenue of his life, he'd be able to do it. Not that he would, of course, but with love, all things were possible.

He had taken such a risk coming here to Vegas, not knowing what would be ahead of him. That was the most courageous thing that he'd ever done in his life, and at the time, he had wondered just what was pulling him here. But he'd known the answer to that as soon as he'd met Greg.

Some kind of fate had brought him here; he and Greg had been meant to be together, and everything in his life up until the moment of their meeting had led to that. He would never forget the first time he'd looked into those deep brown eyes and known that this man was made for him.

All of his past relationships, everyone that he'd ever dated or even had a crush on, had just been a dress rehearsal for the real thing. Maybe he'd had to get his heart broken a few times before he had been able to truly appreciate what it was like to fall in love.

Too many of the people he'd been with in the past had shaken his faith in love, had made him feel as though he would never find what he sought. And really, he'd given up looking for that love, that pure, honest love that always seemed to elude him.

That was one of the reasons he'd left Miami and moved to Vegas; he had been so sure that he needed to start an entirely new life away from everything he knew, and that he would never again look for love to fill what had always been an empty space in his life.

How strange, then, that the first thing he'd done in Vegas, other than start a new job, was fall in love. He hadn't meant to do that, he hadn't planned on it, but fate had obviously had other ideas. Maybe that was even why he'd been so sure that he was doing the right thing by coming here.

His faith in love had been shaken, but he had never quite lost it completely. He had taken a deep breath and jumped back into love again, knowing in his heart that he needed that love in his life to make him whole. He'd taken a chance, and it had been the best thing he'd ever done for himself.

He had spent far too much time feeling that love would always elude him, feeling that he wasn't meant to have that kind of happiness in his life. But somehow, he managed to keep that little spark of hope alive, a light that shone through the darkness and kept him going.

He'd kept on believing in love, kept his heart open even when his mind had insisted that there was no reason to do so. In spite of what he'd tried to tell himself over and over again, he hadn't given up. And that perseverance and belief in love had paid off in the end.

Ryan turned off the vacuum, closing his eyes and forming a picture of Greg in his mind. He could literally feel his knees go weak as he imagined Greg naked, lying on their bed holding his arms out in invitation, the smile on his lips going straight to Ryan's heart.

He loved Greg Sanders with a fierceness that that he'd never thought he could feel. Greg wasn't just his lover; Greg was his best friend, his soul mate, a part of him in a way that no one else could ever be. Greg was part of the very fabric of his life, nestled into his heart and soul.

When he had left Miami behind him, he'd left a lot of regrets and mistakes behind as well, and he'd sworn that he wouldn't make those same mistakes once he started his new life in Vegas. He'd made a few since he'd been here, but loving Greg definitely hadn't been one of them.

Together, they were an unstoppable team; they could do anything that was within the realm of possibility. He had never felt as free as he did when he was with Greg; he felt superhuman, as though he could climb any mountain, achieve any goal that he set for himself.

When he'd been in Miami, searching for love, he'd never felt so alone in his life. It had felt as though it was raining all the time, in a bleak, cold landscape -- even though he lived in a warm climate, inside, he'd always felt cold and lonely.

Now that he was here in Vegas, and had found the love of his life, sunshine was pouring down on him, and life had opened up so many possibilities. All it had taken for his life to burst into bloom was falling in love. Loving Greg had made so many dreams come true for him.

He'd opened up Greg's life, too, Ryan thought as he returned the vacuum to the hall closet and closed the door. Greg had been just as alone as he was, and his boyfriend had felt that he would never find love. They'd been good for each other, in a myriad of ways.

And they would continue to bring love and joy to each other's lives. What they felt for each other would only grow and develop, and be stronger with time. Ryan was sure of that, more sure than he'd ever been of anything in his life. Love like theirs didn't fade away; it only grew stronger.

The love they shared was truly unstoppable, he told himself as he wandered into the kitchen, clearing a stack of dishes off the counter so that Greg would have room to put the bags of groceries there. Nothing could stand in their way; together, they could conquer all.

Ryan turned towards the front door when he heard Greg's car in the driveway, another smile spreading over his features. He had a good idea of what he and Greg wold be doing after they got the groceries put away, and he couldn't think of a better way to spend the rest of their afternoon.
