Title: Untitled \

Pairing: Cath/Sara
Rated: PG
Disclaimer: not mine.
Word Count: 145
Author's Notes: Okay, it occurs to me that answering my own challenge is really sad, but I'm hoping someone will follow my own rather poor effort and come up with an elegant and excellent storyline to explain the Cath/Sara subtext in that scene.
Summary: Cat speculates on what she should have said.

"If I didn't know better I'd think that was you on that table."

"I didn't really look at her face."

I knew she was lying. It was clear, as she ducked her face, turned her head away and her voice lost its modulation. I think my face told my skepticism as she asked me to tell Grissom about the toe prints.

What was I supposed to do, stand up and make a declaration. "By the way Sara, I know we've never been friends, and I've been nastier to you than I have any right, and I've just been prying where I probably shouldn't have been, but seeing Debbie on that table just reminded me that I'm really glad you're still alive."?

Not quite.

But it didn't change the truth of it. And I just know that sometime, sometime soon, I'll be able to tell her.
