Title: Fixer Upper
Author: Bj Jones
Rating: FRT
Disclaimer: I don't own them. They are owned by various executives, producers, writers and studios who have more lawyers on retainer than I want to mess with. I'm not making any money and promise to return them.
Summary: Two souls come together to heal.
Author's Note: Okay this is a sequel to two stories - Bob is Evil - just thought I would add that. Basically after writing Goodnight Nick I sent it to my writing partner in crime. She retaliated with One More Victim and Bob popped up and went *poke*. Gil/Speed healing... Oh did I mention he's evil - expect more from this storyline.

Speed had been working at the Vegas lab for a few weeks now. It hadn't take him long to figure out that he was replacing a lost CSI. It also didn't take a genius to figure out that Grissom and Stokes had been a couple. He could see it in the blue eyes every time Gil looked at him. There were days he felt those eyes boring into him, much like another pair of blue eyes had while he was in Miami.

Alexx kept him updated on things in Miami. It had taken him some smooth talking to calm her down, so the lioness wouldn’t go after Horatio for hurting her baby. He had always understood that Horatio needed to help. To be the one to take care of others, protect, cherish and love. The problem was that he had done such a good job that Speed had flourished and become his own person that didn't need to be taken care of. Don't get him wrong; it hurt like hell to be dumped for Eric's sister.

"Timothy."

That was another thing he wasn't used to, being called by his full name by someone who wasn't Alexx. "Grissom, I've got the lab analysis, it’s seaweed."

Gil slipped off his glasses a small smile on his face. "In the desert?"

Speed shrugged. "Weirder things have happened."

"But how did seaweed get out into the desert?" He paused. "Didn't Mr. Tompkins have a large salt water aquarium?"

Tim paused and grabbed the photos from the suspect’s house, stopping on one showing the large aquarium. "And at the time of this photo it had been recently cleaned out." He looked up to see the older man staring at him intently. "A friend had a large aquarium, he loved the sea."

"Maybe we should have Sophia have another chat with Mr. Tompkins." Gil put his glasses back on. "Good work, Tim."

Speed just shrugged. "It's my job."

"No, it's who you are." He tilted his head. "Caine was a fool to let you walk away." Speed looked into those deep blue eyes. "And I don't just mean as a CSI."

"I was no longer broken," Speed whispered. He shook his head shocked that he had admitted that out loud.

"But in the process he destroyed what he worked so hard to fix," he gave the younger man a sad smile.

"I know its taboo and all, but I did want to say that Nick was a very lucky man and someone I would have been happy to work with." Speed rambled looking down at his feet, his hand going through his hair. "Sorry, shouldn't have brought..."

"No, I get tired of no one talking about him as if he never existed. He was part of my team, a good friend, and my...." Grissom looked around the small lab. "How about breakfast... I can tell you stories about him and you can be the patient young man smiling and nodding pretending to care."

Tim looked up his brown eyes locking with blue. "I don't have to pretend."

Gil just nodded before turning and heading back to his office. For the first time since that fateful day, he actually had a true smile on his face. He sat down at his desk and set down the file folder. Glancing over to the picture on his desk, he couldn't help but wonder if Nick brought Timothy Speedle to Vegas - two broken hearts looking to be fixed.
