Summary: "He who is not impatient is not in love" ~ Italian Proverb ~ Pairng: Warrick/Gil

***Emergency wing of Sunrise Hospital***

"Look, I'm fine. It's just a few cuts and bruises!"

"Sir, this is more than a few cuts and bruises, these cuts are deep and will require stitches. It will go a lot smoother and faster if you let me work,"replied the doctor, sending Warrick an annoyed glare. Warrick knew he was being stubborn, but he couldn't help it. He needed to see Gil.

"How much longer will it be?"

"Not too much longer, but you have to be still while I stitch you up. Okay?"

"Yeah, okay."

*five minutes later*

"Are you done?"

"Sir, please be patient."

"I'm sorry, I'm trying. But I need to get outta here, it's important."

"There! All finished,"the doctor replied, happy that he could get rid of this annoying man. "Here is the prescription for your pain meds. Make sure you take them until they are all gone."

"Thanks doc!"Warrick said as he hurried out the door. Stopping at the nurses' station, "Where can I find Gil Grissom?"

Checking the chart, the nurse smiled at him, "Well, he should be getting out of x-ray soon, so I would head to the radiology waiting room if I were you." <> Almost at a full run, Warrick replied over his shoulder, "Thanks."

***Meanwhile in the Radiology wing of Sunrise Hospital***

"Can I go now?"Gil asked impatiently.

"Mr. Grissom, it would be in your best interest to stay here overnight for observation. You took a nasty blow to the head, and you will need someone to watch for any signs of further, uh, distress."

"Look,"reading the nametag pinned to the doctor's coat, "Dr. Redding, I understand that it is your job to make this as hard as possible, but I am leaving this hospital, tonight. I have someone to watch for signs of further distress, and if you let me, I will be able to finally get to him."

"Fine! If you insist, here's your prescription, please remember to take the full prescription. If you have any problems,"seeing Gil's raised eyebrow, he finished quickly, "Never mind, have a good night Mr. Grissom."With that the doctor left the exam room, with Gil following suit.

Looking around, Gil spotted a nurse coming down the hall. "Excuse me ma'am, but could you tell me where I can find Warrick Brown."

Smiling, the nurse headed over to the nurse's station, "What was he brought in for?"

"He sustained a cut to his side and a cut on his left shoulder."

With a few more clicks of the mouse, the nurse looked up and responded, "Looks like Mr. Brown was treated in the Emergency wing of the hospital, so you should probably head to the ER waiting room."

"Thanks, ma'am,"Gil replied before hurrying off to find his lover.

***A deserted hallway somewhere in Sunrise Hospital***

Rounding the corner, Warrick and Gil collided into each other.

"Gil! Man, I've been looking all over for you."

"I've been looking for you too, ‘Ricky"Leading him to some empty seat lining the hall, Gil sat down next to his lover, seeing the concern on his face.

"I went to radiology and after some prodding, Dr. Redding told me he advised you to stay here overnight. So what do you think you are doing?"

"Look, Warrick, you know how I am. I like being in my own surroundings, I couldn't stay here overnight. I told the doctor that you would keep an eye on me, and that if anything changed for the worse we could come in immediately, okay?"

"I don't know Gil; maybe you should stay here to be safe. You did get a nasty hit to the side of your head."Reaching out, Warrick ran a finger over the bandage covering Gil's forehead above his right eye. "How does your head feel?"

"Like I was hit with a wall. Really, Ricky, I'm fine, or I will be once we get home. How are you?"

"Just a few cuts and bruises."

Running s finger over his lover's busted lip, "Come on Warrick, I saw the knife that guy had, and I heard you yell when he tried to cut you."Placing a gentle hand to his lover's side, Gil noticed the slight wince it caused, "See. Now tell me the truth."

Sighing heavily, "I knew you weren't gonna let me off that easy. I'm okay, the doc had to stitch the cut on my left side, and there is a smaller cut on my shoulder that he bandaged up. Other than that, and this busted lip, nothing else but a few bruises."

"Good. I don't know what I would have done if something worse had happened."

"I know, baby, I feel the same way."Pulling Gil in for a deep kiss, Warrick didn't care if anyone walked down that empty corridor at that moment; he needed to feel Gil's lips on his. Apparently Gil didn't mind either, as he wrapped his arms around Warrick's neck and deepened the kiss.

"I knew it. You owe me 20 bucks!"

Warrick and Gil broke apart, startled, before looking up to see Jim Brass opening his wallet, with Greg standing beside him, a victorious smile on his face.

"Gil, you could have given me a heads up, you know? Greg will never let me hear the end of it now."Jim said as he glanced at the two lovers before pulling the money out of his wallet.

"Well, it's not their fault you bet against me. I saw the signs and you refused to believe me. So don't be a sore loser, pay up."Greg replied as he snatched the $20 bill from Jim's hand.

"You guys had a bet going about us?"Gil asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, well I bet Greggo here that you would never be brave enough to tell Warrick about your feelings, and he said--"

"I said, that you already had. And that you two were together and have been for a while. I'm right aren't I? Of course I am, the evidence never lies. Anyway, he didn't believe me, so I bet him $20 that I was right, and I won."Greg replied, interrupting Jim with his usual flair.

"Evidence? What evidence?"Warrick asked.

"Like the fact that you two can't keep your eyes off of each other."Catherine replied as she walked up followed by Nick and Sara. "How are you two doing?"

"We're fine Cath, nothing a few days off and our medication can't cure,"replied Warrick with a wave of the prescription in his hand.

"Well, that will teach you to try to bum rush a guy wielding a knife, ‘Rick."Nick replied, happy his friends were gonna make a full recovery, but still aware of what could have happened.

"He was holding a knife to Gil's throat, Nicky. And when he pushed Gil into that wall, and I heard the thud as Gil hit the ground, I couldn't help it, man. I lost it,"replied Warrick trying to keep the emotion out of his voice.

Placing a calming on his arm, Nick smiled softly, "I know Rick. You guys just scared me, all of us, a bit."Motioning for them to come on, "Come on guys, it has been a long night, I think we could all use a good night's sleep."

"Yeah, Nicky, I think you're right."Gil responded as he stood slowly, swaying slightly as dizziness overcame him. Warrick put a hand out to steady him, "I'm okay, Ricky, just a little unsteady on my feet."

"Come on. Let's get you home."Placing an arm around Gil's shoulder, Warrick and Gil walked out of the hospital, lost in their own little world.

"They're so cute together,"sighed Catherine happily.

"Yeah, they are,"agreed Greg.

"Who? What are you guys talking about?"asked Sara.

"Come on Sara; please tell me you are kidding?"Jim asked incredulously.

"Kidding about what?"whined Sara.

Rolling his eyes, Greg exclaimed, "Come on Sara, it's so obvious!"

"What is?"

Shaking his head as Sara, Greg and Jim turned down another hall to get to the parking lot, Nicky laughed, "Some people never get a clue."

Looking ahead at the two men so lost in each other, they were oblivious to everything around them, Catherine smiled. It had taken her two friends a lot of time to get it together, but eventually they did, and were better for it. "And, finally, some people do."

***THE END***
