"Tell me what you see when you look at me."

Ryan had to smile at Greg's words; he hadn't expected to hear something like that, not after they'd just made love and were snuggled in bed together, still wrapped in each other's arms. It wasn't the kind of question that Greg usually asked him.

But if his boyfriend wanted to know the answer to that question, then Ryan would tell him, openly and honestly. There was nothing else he could do.

"What do I see when I look at you?" he began, trying to arrange his thoughts in some kind of order. "I see the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. I see the person who's given me the kind of love I never thought I'd have, and a life I love."

Greg was smiling now, even looking a little starry-eyed.

That was how he liked to see his boyfriend, Ryan thought with satisfaction. Happy and glowing and .... well, looking more beautiful and desirable than ever.

Greg was always the most gorgeous man he'd ever seen, but with that beguiled expression on his face, his dark eyes sparkling, looking so happy and contented, he was more beautiful than ever. Ryan couldn't take his eyes off his lover; he was mesmerized.

He had been captivated from the first moment he'd seen Greg. There was no denying that. He'd fallen head over heels, and he never wanted to get back up again.

Love did that to a person.

Ryan reached out to trail gentle fingertips down Greg's cheek, wondering just how to explain what he saw when he looked at the man he loved.

Words had never been easy for him. He didn't have a glib tongue; it was always hard for him to put all of his innermost feelings into words. But he had to try now, because he kenw that Greg wanted to hear those words. Maybe he even needed to hear them.

Lifting both hands, he framed Greg's face, gazed into those deep brown eyes, the eyes he had come to love so much, eyes that he could stare into forever.

"What do I see?" he whispered, his voice barely audible. "I see my future. I see the person I want to spend my life. I see everything I've ever needed, or wanted."

He continued, his voice gaining strength, though it stayed soft and gentle. "And I see love, Greg. I see more than love than I thought I could ever have, more love than I thought anyone would ever have for me. More love than I deserve. And I'm grateful for every bit of it."

Greg's eyes were shimmering now, sparkling with unshed tears. Ryan could feel tears rising behind his own eyes; he hadn't thought those words would move them both so much.

But they were words that had come from his heart.

"I never thought anybody would ever think of me like that," Greg told him, his voice a little wobbly. "I never thought I'd be loved the way you love me."

"Well, you are," Ryan told him with a smile, determined to lighten the moment. "Hey, no tears," he said, his tone slightly admonishing. "I wanted to make you happy, not make you cry! Even though they're happy tears, I'd rather see that gorgeous smile."

That did it, just as he had known it would. Greg's smile blossomed, and Ryan leaned forward to kiss him, his lips lingering on his boyfriend's.

He could kiss Greg forever, and be the happiest man in the world.

"I'm not going to ask you to tell me what you see when you look at me," he murmured, brushing another soft kiss against Greg's cheek. "Because I know you see the same thing. I know you see your future, and I know you see love. Because it's what I feel."

"It's what we both feel," Greg corrected him with a smile. "I"ll never forget those words, Ryan. They mean a lot. But you know that."

Ryan nodded, his own smile mirroring Greg's. Yes, he did know what those words meant. And he knew that his boyfriend would always treasure them. He wished that he'd said them sooner, but that didn't really matter. He had the rest of their lives to tell Greg how much he was loved.

And he'd make sure to do that every day. Until the end of time.
