Challenge: 100 Drabbles – Horatio Caine/Timothy Speedle

Speed looked worn out. His clothes seemed even more rumpled. The normally scruffy face sported a beard more pronounced and thicker than usual. The eyes were dull, dark rings on pale skin under them. Seeing him this way hurt.

Horatio watched as Speed slipped further into depression. Speed was there when Horatio showed up in the morning and was there when Horatio left. He knew he would lose Speed if he didn’t do something fast.

The redhead showed up at the CSI’s door. Speed looked at him. A sob ripped out of him as he broke down. Horatio set Speed’s gun on the table and held him close.

Tomorrow they would start anew.
