The evening had passed quickly, the dinner table was now empty and
its owners could be heard chuckling as they made their way up the
stairs of the grand hotel.
"You're drunk!" she giggled missing the last step and nearly falling
down.
"I'm not drunk I'm soba! You drank, I didn't remember?" the brunet
had taken her friends arm helping her up.
"Then why are you wobbling all over the place huh?" she pushed away
the arm that was steadying her "Don't use me to lean on, I got
enough trouble…" She slipped and once again she was caught by a
helping hand.
"Trouble is not the word I'd use!" her friend submitted and regained
some balance.
"No… sexy, sleek and…"
"Wasted?" She laughed while leading her toward her room.
"Well you're making me dizzy! Of course I would look…"
"You're wasted Sofia!" the brunet tugged on her waist upward so to
get Sofia to take some weight and stand up straight. They reached
the door; she put Sofia's back to the wall to help her stand while
she did the honours.
"Sara I think I got my key!" Sofia told her without moving or even
opening her eyes now.
"You do, this isn't your room this is mine." Sara unlooked the door
with the card key pushing it open.
"Huh?"
"Come on…" Sara took the weight of her colleague and helped her
inside "…here." She laid her on the bed, somehow finding herself on
top of the blonde.
"First you get me drunk, then you…"
"Your room is 4 floors up!!" Sara said as mater of fact, cutting
Sofia off.
"That's going to be an ebara… embawa…"
"Embarrassing?" Sara moved off of the blond and made her way to the
restroom.
"…Embarrassing excuse in the morning!" she finished.
Sara looked in the mirror and smiled to herwelf at Sofia's mumbling…
when she heard the blond calling her name she had to check on her.
She peer'd down at her incoherent friend, amused at how long it took
sofia to noticed her.
"Where did you go?"
"I had to use the rest room." Sara took Sofia's shoes off and told
her to move back along the bed.
"I have to take this off!" Sofia said trying to sit, Sara helped her
up.
"If you insist!"
"If you insist!" Sofia mimicked her sarcastically.
Sara just smiled through it, amused at how sassy the blond was being
with her. She lifted the dress up over Sofia's head revealing her
sexy black garments.
"Where do you want me Sidle?" She teased all the while still trying
to balance herself in a seating position.
"Sofia I hope you realise how hard your making this for me." She
said pointing to the head of the bed.
"You like it easy?" she said now laying properly along the bed, eyes
at Sara.
Sara paused at that, at first it was funny and yeah, sure she was
having trouble hiding her amusement. But now this was torture, the
blonde laying on her bed with hardly any cloths on while asking her
if she liked it easy? "Sofia where is the key for your room?"
Sofia screwed her face up "Why?"
Sara huffed after a few minutes of searching. Having no luck she
lent over the blonde "Where is it?" she was soft in her demand.
"I don't know!" Sofia said trying to hide her smile by biting on her
bottom lip.
"Sofia?"
"Stay here!!" She complained in a drunken sob.
"Give it to me!"
"I haven't got it!" She was lying, her hand was hidden behind her
back and it was obvious.
"SOFIA!!" Sara reached for her hands and tried to pull her up. But
in a her struggle Sofia kissed her instead and Sara didn't pull back
straight away; in fact the parting was mutual.
"Stay Sara" She whispered not an inch away from where her mouth had
just been.
Sara pulled away "You're drunk…" she told her again.
"So what, I'm drunk!" She threw her hands up like it was a big
surprise or something "You telling me you haven't considered this?
That you haven't been looking at me; I know you have."
Sara was blushing, the blond was right.
"I'm not asking you to commit, I'm asking you to stay with me… and
not because I'm wasted, I don't expect you to take advantage of me
like this, but because I've considered this, and I've been looking
at you too; you know I have."
Sara walked around to the other side of the bed without a word. She
sat down and took her shoes off before turning to look at Sofia "You
look at Grissom like that too"
"Maybe at first." She said honestly "You and Gr…?"
"Not any more!" Sara smiled cutting her off, and then got up and
took her bag with her into the rest room closing the door behind
her. A few minutes later she came out wearing a vest top and pyjama
bottoms. She noticed Sofia had her eye's closed "Hey…" she said
softly.
"Hmm" she made a soft noise in reply indicating she was drifting off.
Sara pulled the covers up and snuck underneath, then turned the
light at the side of her bed out.
***
The light was seeping through the small gap in the curtains and
shining directly across Sara's face. She tried to move but with
difficulty, she eventually opened her eyes. Feeling hot and sticky
she looked down at the blond who had managed to crawl on top of her
during the night, her breath now tickling her neck while she lay in
a deep sleep. At first she settled with not waking her, but a few
minutes later she was horribly sweaty, she needed to
breath. "Sofia?" she whispered, and then again "hey…"
Sofia moved in closer "hmmm?" and snuggled up.
"I'm to hot…" she took a free hand and placed it on Sofia's shoulder
to try and move her.
"Sorry!" she muffled and lifted herself off, still half asleep.
"It's ok I'm just boiling up." Sara explained pealing her covers
away from her.
"Hmm, you feel hot!" she murmured under her breath.
Sara was awake now and as much as she tried she couldn't find peace.
After a few minutes she gave in. "You awake?" she whispered over to
the blond who had her back turned toward her.
Sofia turned to face her "Hey!"
"Hey how you feeling?"
She put her face into her pillow to hide "I'm so embarrassed!" she
muffled.
Sara laughed "Are you wondering why you're in my bed?"
"Argh, no I remember." She pulled her head away "I'm so sorry!"
"Don't, you make for an amusing drunk!" Sara said turning on her
side to face her
"Amusing?" she looked up questioning how amusing that was for Sara,
head ready for another dive into her pillow.
Sara nodded.
"Which part amused you more, helping me stumble up to your room… or
kissing you?" She asked softly.
"The kiss was enough for me to forget that you were the drunk
stumbling up to my room."
"I wasn't able to walk in a straight line but I knew exactly what I
was doing Sara" Sofia informed her delicately, eyes not moving off
of her but waiting for a reaction.
"I wasn't under any influence…" her answer was honest "…I kissed you
back"
A wide smile appeared on the blonds face "And then I fell asleep!"
"It was probably a good thing the drunk won in the end!"
"She didn't, if she'd had her way she'd of been up all night!" Sofia
had to look away… there was a silence. When Sofia looked up Sara had
lent forward to kiss her.
Before their lips touched there was a sudden knock at the door. Both
looked at each other in wonder. Sara got up and slipped the latch
off the door before opening it.
"Morning Sara!" Grissom began…
"Grissom…" It was clear in her voice that she was a little surprised
to see him at her door. "…Hi"
Meanwhile Sofia was balancing herself on the edge of the bed to get
a view of who was at the door, when she heard Grissom's voice she
lost the balance and fell. A thud on the floor came from behind
Sara, Grissom tried to look over her shoulder…
Sara smiled trying to get his attention "Soooo, was there something…"
"Yes…" he continued while Sofia swore under her breath and stumbled
to her feet trying not to make to much noise.
Sara closed the door and turned to find Sofia sat on the bed
innocently looking through room compliance leaflet. She pretended
like she hadn't noticed Sara…
"That was Grissom!" Sara told her knowing to well Sofia was aware.
"You know, there's normally tokens or vouchers with these leaflets,
I think the departments cutting back on costs!" she said flicking
the leaflet back and forth for a final check.
Sara snatched the leaf lit out of her hand "Grissom heard you, what
was you doing?" she wasn't impressed, though somewhat amused.
"I fell off the bed! I think I've hurt my arm!!" She said taking a
look at her elbow.
Sara couldn't retain her laugh "Yeah that was quite a thud!" she
leaned in also to also get a look at Sofia's arm.
"So what did he want?"
"He asked me to join him for breakfast!" Sara grunted, Sofia
snorted "I declined, and I think he might be on his way up to your
room."
"What do you call that? Sloppy seconds?" She pulled a face at the
thought.
Sara missed her clown face because she was now checking the leaflet
for vouchers and tokens for herself. "Unless he'd already been to
your room, and with no answer?" They both gave that some thought.
Sofia smiled at how appropriate that would be. She took the leaflet
out of Sara's hand to meeting her eye to eye "Would you like to join
me for breakfast?" She asked rather charmingly.
"Yes I'm starving!" She stated, indicating to Sofia that she had
tuned Grissom down for another reason.
"Good!" she said now moving around the bed toward the rest room "I
just need to get the taste of cheap wine out of my mouth!"
"Right!" Sara wondered if they were going to get to continue from
before they got interrupted by the knock at the door "I probably
wouldn't off been able to taste it ya know!" she called out.
Sofia chuckled and could be heard spitting the toothpaste into the
sink. When she finished she stood by the doorway in a sexy stance
waiting for Sara to notice her and when she did Sofia used her
finger to call her over to her.
"Hey…" Sara said as she got up close.
Sofia placed a hand behind Sara's neck "lets ignore any
interruptions this time" She said before kissing her finally.***
They expected the breakfast lounge to be quite and somewhat empty.
But unfortunately when they walked in they found their fellow
colleagues sat at the centre table chatting and enjoying them selves.
Sofia rolled her eyes at Sara "I suppose we should…"
"…Join the parade?" Sara finished for her.
Sofia nodded leading the way. They approached the table, with
numerous hellos and then found seats opposite Nick and Greg. Sofia
made a note of Grissom not being there… few, she thought, until she
saw him returning to the table with a few slices of toast.
"Sofia." He nodded her way before taking a seat.
Oh god, she thought as he sat next to her, still she managed to
smile his way. At least he hadn't noticed them walking in together,
then again…
"Hey I'm going to go see what I can find to satisfy my appetite!"
Sara said looking toward Sofia while moving off.
Sofia raised an eyebrow suggestively at her comment, which she knew
Grissom noticed.
"Did you sleep well?" he said before taking a bite.
"Fine… you?"
"Like a baby. You were up particularly early this morning?"
"I er…" she found a distraction, good timing Sara!
Sara came back to the table with a bowel of cereal and a plate of
croissants. "Hey I wasn't sure what you would prefer so I got a few
things…"
"Thanks!" Sofia took a croissant braking into half and then taking a
bite.
Sitting down Sara placed a hand on Sofia's knee under the table.
Meanwhile Greg had dropped his folk on the floor, and saw Sofia put
her hand on top of Sara's. Everyone looked over when they heard a
bump from under the table, Sara nor Sofia, had considered why.
"Hey… " Nick looked under the table to have Greg pointing at what he
had seen. He smiled at the sight, he looked across the
table "Sofia…" he called over to her "How's the hang over?"
"Fine, I had a little pick-me-up! Sorted me right out!" She felt a
gentle squeeze on the leg from Sara.
"I've heard that a white of an egg, with orange juice is the best
way to cure a hangover!" Grissom said in a mono tone.
"That's got to be hard to swallow!" Sara said innocently.
"I wasn't that bad…" the blond said in her defence, Sara shot her a
look as if to say otherwise "…Was I?"
Sara had taken a sip of her orange juice nearly had to spit it back
in the glass when Sofia expected a reply. "Sorry…" she said
swallowing while holding her laugh in and wiping her mouth with the
back of her hand.
Sofia pouted in amusement "Sleeping it off seems to do the trick for
me!" Sofia claimed, earning another squeeze from the brunet under
the table and then in one easy motion taking her hand in hers to
hold it.
"You slept in?" Grissom looked at her while finishing the last piece
of his toast and rubbing his hands together to rid the crumbs.
"I slept long enough!" she answered in a smooth recovery.
Meanwhile Nick had made it his mission to write a little secret on a
napkin and circulate it so that one at a time everyone would take a
peek under the breakfast table. Somehow Grissom was the only one to
miss out, not to mention Sara and Sofia who remained unaware.
"Hey do you want the last one?" Sara asked the blond before reaching
for the lonely croissant in front of them.
"No go ahead, I'm going to get some coffee!" Sofia gave Sara's hand
a squeeze before letting go and leaving the table.
…And so leaving Sara alone with Grissom. Great! She thought.
"Sara?" he got her attention "I'm sorry about this morning, if I was
a little forward with you I mean."
Sara was busy watching where Sofia had gone "huh… oh no, it's ok!"
she said with her head looking away from him.
"You seem distracted?" he said looking over at Sofia.
"No, I'm trying to catch her eye so she might get me some coffee
too." Sara didn't need to she noticed as Sofia made her way back
with a pot of black coffee and 2 cups on a tray.
"How accommodating!" Grissom mused out loud.
Sara moved a few things to make space for the tray… Sofia laid it
down and began pouring while Grissom stood and headed for the rest
room.
"I just spoke to Catherine… " Sofia whispered leaning in "I don't
know how, but she knows!!"
"What?" Sara looked at everyone sitting around the table, there was
reason to be suspicious as Nick winked to her.
"She didn't give me a chance to ask, it's not like we've even
consummated our relationship, yet… "
"Yet? Kind of!" Sara attempted to correct her.
Sofia smiled back in clarification "We have in one sense of the
word!"
Shacking her head "Can you believe it, they probably knew before
us!!"
"Wait, you think Grissom?" Sofia considered it a possibility.
"Well he was asking you about your hang over, maybe he tried your
room first after all"
"I'm going to ask him!!" Sofia decided as she saw him approaching.
"No… Sof …Hey Grissom!" it was too late…
"Hey Gil, here's a question…" she sat forward in her seat "What time
did you knock on my door this morning?"
He swallowed hard keeping his composure. "On your door? What makes
you think I did?"
"Well you seem to know a lot about my sleeping patterns?"
"I knocked on Sara's door, but you stayed in Sara's room right so…?"
Sofia looked at Sara, Sara from Sofia to Grissom.
"She was 4 floors up!" Sara told him.
"…and drunk!" Sofia added
"Then that leads me to ask why didn't you just use the lift?" he
said taking the last sip of his drink and leaving.
Sofia looked at Sara, Sara took a sip of her coffee
innocently "What?"
"How about we go and consummate this relationship before heading
out?"
They both left with smiling faces, while their colleagues watched in
amusement!
