Title: The Winner Takes It All
Author: Ann

Fandom: CSI: Las Veagas
Rating: PG-13

AN: First, I used a Zune. Second, I had a general idea of what I wanted to try to do with this, but I did allow myself to be at the mercy of the player's shuffle. By the way, I'm going out to buy a lottery ticket later. :) Third, I don't write well with music, so I turned it down just enough to hear when the song had finished. I was still distracted though, judging by the rather short length of these snippets. Last, I read back over and corrected glaring mistakes, I just couldn't help myself. I'm sure I missed quite a few.
iTunes Challenge:
1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn your music player on and turn it on random.
3. Write a drabble/ficlet related to each song that plays. You only have the length of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts and stop when it's over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do five of these and post them.

1. First Time – Lifehouse

Sofia sat on the end of the couch and nursed her beer, waiting for Sara to return from the kitchen with a fresh one. The two of them had been playing at something for weeks now, but neither quite knew the name of the game, much less the rules for it. She did know, however, that she wanted Sara and Sara wanted her. It was the one thing she was certain of. The way the other woman looked at her, those dark eyes boring into her own, as if begging Sofia to take the lead and make the first move.

A bottle suddenly appeared in her vision, and Sofia jerked her head up. There it was – that look. Sara didn’t say a word; she just gave a slight smile and held out the beer for Sofia to take. She did, of course, but promptly set it on the coffee table as she pushed to her feet. Without thought, without hesitation, Sofia pulled Sara close and touched her lips to the other woman’s, softly at first and then with more pressure. Soon, two tongues were vying for control.

They both knew the game now and played it to its completion – extra innings and overtime came later.

2. The First Cut is the Deepest – Sheryl Crow

Sofia stared through the windshield of her car and watched as Sara stepped from the building. Placing her hand on the door handle, Sofia shifted to open the door, but stopped all movements when she spied Grissom walking behind Sara. She watched as the couple moved down the sidewalk – keeping their distance from each other - crawled into Grissom’s SUV, and drove away. Sofia knew there weren’t any pressing cases that needed assistance from the CSI team. No, Sara had chosen to go home with Grissom.

Slumping against the seat, Sofia stared up at the car’s visor. How had things gone so wrong? She’d known Sara had had a thing for Grissom, but she’d thought the attraction would fade after time. She’d thought what she and Sara shared was so special, so real, that nothing would ever compare.

Apparently, she’d been wrong.

3.
Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) – Green Day

Damp skin slid against damp skin as hands freely wandered down well-known paths, over hardened pebbles and mounds, and into welcoming warmth. Soft moans filled the silence of the room as the two women jockeyed for position, each desperately needing to make the other her own, if only for tonight.

Little did Sofia know, Sara had made a decision that would forever turn someone’s world upside down.

4. Knowing Me, Knowing You – Abba

Sara swallowed hard against the tears that threatened to choke her. This was the hardest thing she’d ever had to do, but it was something that had to be done. She couldn’t go on like this, loving one, while feeling an attraction to another. It wasn’t fair to any of them; it was for the best she kept telling herself. Releasing a deep breath, she pushed her lanky form off the doorframe and stepped inside the office. It was time to break free.

The person looked up from a stack of files, surprise evident in the wide-eyed expression.

“Sara?”

Sara smiled sadly and moved further into the room.

5. Breathe – Anna Nalick

2 AM – Sofia glanced over at the clock and sighed. Sara had promised that she’d come by as soon as she’d spoken to Grissom, but hours had already passed and Sofia feared her lover hadn’t been able to go through with it. Sara had, in Sofia’s opinion, a very unhealthy attachment to Grissom, one that needed to be severed once and for all. But it seemed it was definitely not happening today.

A sliver of light fought its way across the room and highlighted a small patch of an ivory colored wall, catching Sofia’s attention. She rolled onto her back and turned toward the door, her breath hitching at the sight of Sara standing there, the light from the hallway casting a soft glow around the other woman. Sofia had never seen her look so beautiful.

“I did it,” Sara said, not moving from her spot.

Tossing the covers aside, Sofia crawled from the bed and started toward her lover. It was Sara’s turn to feel her breath almost leave her body as she watched Sofia come nearer and nearer, wearing nothing but a sleepy smile. Forcing her weight forward, Sara took a step toward her future.
